End of School Year Activities

State testing is done, now what? How do you keep your students engaged? Well besides academic content left to teach or review work to prep them for the next grade, I have them do a summer countdown. You can choose how many days you'll do this and what activites you prefer. From racing paper airplanes, and seeing which material helps them fly best, (card stock, construction paper, or copy paper) to making ice cream in a bag, there is so much fun to choose from.

You can also use the daily countdown activities as an incentive that students earn with good behavior. I use Whole Brain Teaching's Happy Sad Point system. If students earn more happy points they earn a countdown activity. For more about how I use this system you can read here

Another fun activity I do with my students is this end of year memory book that is emoji themed.

If you like both resources you can grab the bundle here

Finally, if you are looking for a simple quick project you can grab this freebie (and more) by subscribing to my newletter. See the link at the top of the page. It's a mini booklet for photo memories of your students with a donut themed cover that says don't forget your year in ___ grade. I take square photos through the year with different themes (like First Day of School, Halloween, Christmas, Read Across America Week etc.) but you could include any class photos you have. Students are excited to put these together and especially happy about eating a donut as well. Perfect last day activity!

I hope you found some of these ideas helpful in planning your end of year activities.
